Re-energising the Microfinance Sector
The Zimbabwe Association of Microfinance Institutions (ZAMFI)in conjuction with the Zimbabwe Microfinance Fund (ZMF) invites you to the 2020 MFI CEO Conference.
Event Information and Logistical Note
As you are all aware, amongst ZAMFI`s flagship events in a normal year are the Winter School, the Summer School and MF Awards. Because 2020 was not a normal year and as a result of the Covid-19 vagaries we had to reconfigure some of the activities.
The Winter School and Summer School will now be re scheduled as an MFI CEO Consultative Conference where MFIs will meet, regroup, discuss and look at how the sector can strategise for 2021.
To this end ZAMFI wishes to inform and invite you to the MFI CEO Conference which will be held on the 10th of December 2020 in Harare.
Introduction
Pioneered in 2015 as a summer school, the winter school has become an important annual event for the microfinance sector in Zimbabwe. The themes have been as follows:
2015 | Re-defining Microfinance |
2016 | Walking the Talk |
2017 | Traversing the Microfinance Landscape |
2018 | Aligning Microfinance to Current Environment & Emerging Trends |
2019 | Determining the next frontier |
The school was initially held in Nyanga (Montclair 2015) then Masvingo (Great Zimbabwe 2016) then in Kariba (Caribbea Bay 2017), 2018 the school was conducted in Nyanga (Troutbeck Resort) and last year it was held in Nyanga as well. Resolutions have always been crafted at a given school and these are always re-visited during the subsequent/ upcoming year’s school.
The objectives of the event are to upscale the performance of microfinance institutions and to come up with a definitive direction of where the sector needs to go in line with the SDGs and the financial inclusion agenda. The benefits of attending has been networking, knowledge sharing, cutting edge discussions and generally a contribution towards the setting of your sector’s agenda for sustainable financial inclusion and setting the stage for microfinance transformation from poverty alleviation to wealth creation
Professional School Methodology and Approach
This year due to the Covid-19 pandemic a lot of activities were abandoned to adhere to the safety measures imposed by Ministry of health, as such this year the MFI CEO conference 2020 will be a one-day programme involves presentations, interactive sessions, panel discussions, question and answer sessions. The MFI CEO conference programme will start and end on the same day (10th of December 2020)
